Fillings & Crowns
With all of the dental procedures we provide at Marin Dental Wellness, biocompatibility is a must. This is especially important when it comes to dental restorations such as fillings and crowns, as well as orthopedic devices prosthetics such as implants, as these materials are in the mouth 24/7.
All of our restorations are metal-free and BPA-free.
Mercury-Free Fillings
When a tooth needs to be filled due to decay or other damage, we typically use composite resin instead of amalgam, which is both healthier for you and more aesthetic. The composites available today are incredibly strong and durable. They can last for a good many years, even in molars, able to withstand the regular heavy forces of chewing.
The composites we choose are fluoride-free, BPA-free, and biocompatible for most people.
Metal-Free Crowns
For crowns, Dr. Smith uses a state-of-the-art processing method called e.max Press, which creates highly aesthetic and accurately fitting crowns from biocompatible lithium disilicate glass-ceramic ingots. The process gives them improved flexural strength, so they stand up well to a lot of stress, just like your natural teeth. They also look as natural, fitting in perfectly with the rest of your teeth.
Biocompatible MaterialsTesting
If there’s ever any question whether certain materials will be a good match for your individual biochemistry, we can do reactivity testing to determine which materials to avoid and which are most likely safe.
If you have chronic health problems that have been influenced by dental toxicities or a history of sensitivities or allergies, biocompatibility testing is a must.
But because of the peace of mind that comes from knowing your dental work is truly nontoxic, we encourage all patients to be screened.
