Dr. Smith is a dean’s list graduate from UCSF Dental School, graduating in 1995. After graduating, his focus on the relationship of oral health and its effect on the overall well-being of the body led him to advanced studies with the Institute of Nutritional Dentistry. Seeking ways to further benefit his patients, Dr. Smith then focused an additional three years of study on Oral Systemic Balance (OSB) therapy. He also studied through the American College on Integrative Medicine and Dentistry. His long-standing interest in holistic health has led him to become a certified massage therapist through the Alive and Well Institute in San Rafael, and he is a trained cranial sacral therapist.
Dr. Susan Hahn has served as a dentist since graduating from UCSF Dental School in 1984. She has therefore been practicing general dentistry for 35 years. Approximately 20 years ago, coincidental with the arrival of the first of her three children, Susan became deeply interested in alternative health practices. Following this interest, Susan started a master’s degree in Integrative Health at the California Institute of Integrative Studies, where she discovered the father of biologic dentistry, Weston Price, DDS. Pursuing this new arena, she spent a number of years collaborating with other biologic dentists in the country to share information about what is new, what is time-tested, and where is the field of biologic dentistry going. Her mission is to help people achieve optimal health and to empower them, especially in a place of vulnerability (the dental chair).
Dr. Nguyen joins our team after seven years of experience practicing dentistry around the San Fransico Bay area. In 2015, he graduated from the University of San Francisco, School of Dentistry. His years at UCSF involved volunteering and serving his community through the Science Education Program and Community Dental Clinic. He was accepted into the advanced training program in his General Practice Residency by the Community Medical Centers and the U.S., Department of Veteran Affairs. During this time, he treated patients from all walks of life, including medically compromised patients in the operating room under general anesthesia. Dr. Nguyen dedicates his life to traveling and finding advanced and safe dental techniques. The Doctor’s training and education gave way to him earning the honor of Fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantology. This international designation is given to those who have proved their skill in surgery and restoration of dental implants. He follows the practice philosophy that provides standard holistic dentistry. This is done by working with an open mind with each patient and facilitating exceptional restorative with holistic protocols. The Doctor’s enthusiasm and poise are energizing, and his gentle nature shows through his practice. Dr. Nguyen spends his free time staying physically active. He also takes time with his family and 11 nieces and nephews.

I am so grateful to have found an alternative dentist who is personable, caring, and very good! The whole staff was warm and welcoming, which makes a big difference!
